Divine
Censorship
Men have practiced censorship for as
long as they’ve been breathing oxygen. It is human nature to want to
silence dissent, to mute those who offer a contrary opinion. America in
the 21st century is no exception. Censorship is greatly facilitated
with a CORRUPT political party in power, a CORRUPT media aligned with
that party and a CORRUPT judiciary that shares its ideological
roots.
The main focus of censorship today is
conservatism. If you believe in the sanctity of life, the protection of
borders, the primacy of individual liberty over the collective (to name
a few), the CORRUPT ruling class wants you SILENCED! In the final
analysis, the #1 target of censorship is TRUTH. Godless progressives
may want to silence the voice of conservatism; but what they REALLY
want to do is SILENCE GOD, to rid society of ANY opinion rooted in
biblical TRUTH.
The prophet Jeremiah bore the brunt
of censorship. As God’s spokesman against evil in the land, he was a
thorn in the side of Israel. Whenever a righteous preacher EXPOSES the
sins of an unrighteous people in the public square, the unrighteous
cannot SHUT HIM UP fast enough.
Opposition to Jeremiah got perilous
in the city of Anathoth. They said: “Let us destroy the tree
[Jeremiah] with the fruit thereof [his message], and let us cut him off
from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered”
(Jeremiah 11:19). Their plan to CENSOR Jeremiah extended to TOTAL
OBLITERATION. Make no mistake; it’s exactly what the godless Left would
like to do to their opposition IF they could get away with it.
Jeremiah took his case to the Lord: “Let me see thy vengeance on
them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause” (11:20).
Wise is the preacher (or any believer, for that matter) who knows he
can plead his cause to the God who has his back!
God responds: “Therefore thus saith the LORD of
the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the
name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand: Therefore thus saith
the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish [censor] them: the young men
shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by
famine” (11:21-22).
When the Lord says, “Thus saith,” it
means wicked men CANNOT CENSOR him! God intended to CENSOR permanently
those who planned to permanently CENSOR Jeremiah. Divine censorship
like what the Lord delivered to the men of Anathoth does not always
happen in this life as much as we might wish it would. But that should
not discourage us from pleading OUR CAUSE to the Lord concerning the
enemies of HIS TRUTH.
