About Don Roberts

Thank you for your interest in Truth On Fire. I began this website in the Fall of 1999 due to a fervent desire to provide a strong exegetical and expository alternative to web surfers who hunger for truth. The site is dedicated specifically to that kind of content.

I was saved by God's grace at age twelve (1959), and called to preach at age twenty-three (1971). I graduated from Tennessee Temple College in 1975 with a B.A. degree (Bible / English). My wife and I moved from Chattanooga, TN to Memphis in late 1975 so that I could attend seminary. I graduated from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in 1979 with a M.Div. degree.

During my seminary days I was privileged to serve as pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Brownsville, TN. I will always be grateful to the Lord Jesus for allowing me to be part of this precious congregation for nearly four years. Smaller churches who allow their pastors to be full-time seminary students are making an  unselfish investment in God's kingdom and in eternity itself!

Since 1979 the Lord has allowed me to pastor a number of smaller churches in various capacities—full-time, interim, associate, and bivocational. In addition to service in the local church, I have a parallel secular career that began in 1984 and continues to the present. I have been a mailroom Maintenance Technician / Methods & Procedures Specialist (AT&T), Technical Editor (Winn-Dixie Stores), Senior Technical Writer-Editor (SkyPLUS Technologies), Senior Technical Writer-Editor (Fidelity National Information Services), Technical Writer (Medtronic Spinal & Biologics), Technical Writer (Fidelity National Financial), Senior Technical Writer-Editor (AerSale), and Senior Technical Writer (Florida Power & Light). The combination of these two backgrounds has prepared me well for the writing and publishing of Bible-based web content.
