Dumbing
Down
Perhaps you’ve seen the promo on TV
that attempts to put sinners and reprobates at ease with this claim:
“Jesus Gets Us. All of Us.” Exactly what is it that Jesus ‘gets’ about
us?
Well, first of all, he HATES “hands
that shed innocent blood” (i.e., abortionists et al). He HATES liars as
well. They are an ABOMINATION in his sight (Proverbs
6:17). Secondly, Jesus considers ALL our attempts at
righteousness apart from the imputed righteousness that comes ONLY
through faith in him to be “filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). In other words,
he ‘gets’ our FILTH! Thirdly, his undying love for the FILTHY ‘got’ him
crucified in order that he might redeem us from our FILTH. Yes, Jesus
‘gets’ us. But the greater and more important question is this: Do we
get him?
The Jesus touted by woke religion
bears little resemblance to the biblical Jesus. He is NOT tolerant of
our sins. He does NOT give the wicked or their wickedness a pass. If
the names of those he is alleged to ‘get’ do not appear in the Book of
Life, Jesus will cast them into the Lake of Fire due to their failure
to ‘get’ and believe in him (Revelation 20:15).
The gist of “Jesus Gets Us,” to me,
is rather simple: “DON’T BE SO UPTIGHT ABOUT YOUR IMMORALITY OR
UNNATURAL BEHAVIOR. DON’T BELIEVE ALL THE BIBLICAL HOLINESS CRAP
PEDDLED BY THE CHRISTIAN RIGHT!. TRUTH IS RELATIVE, NOT ABSOLUTE!”
The apostle Paul summed things up on
Mars Hill when he proclaimed: “And the times of this ignorance (worship
of inanimate idols) God winked at; but now commandeth all men every
where to repent: “Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will
judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained;
whereof he hath given assurance (of face-to-face judgment) unto all
men, in that he hath raised him from the dead” (Acts
17:30-31).
In my opinion, the “Jesus Gets Us”
campaign is all part of the greater goal of ‘Dumbing Down’ America
regarding the One TRUE God and his TRUTH. Woke religion tells us a God
who winks at and tolerates sin is a threat to no one. But the death,
burial and resurrection of Jesus—the Gospel—demonstrates what God
‘gets’ about us.
